Chavan has 30 years of professional experience in banking and finance across various roles, with circa 24 of these years being in the investment banking space. He has lived and worked in the UAE for around two decades. For the last 16 years Chavan has held various senior roles within the Global Markets business at First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB), formerly known as National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) pre-merger. During his tenure at FAB, Chavan had worked as the Chief Operating Officer for the Global Markets unit, held various senior client-facing roles, and been a core member of the Global Markets EXCO for the majority of his years with the Bank.
Prior to joining National Bank of Abu Dhabi, Chavan worked at HSBC Middle East, Commerzbank (London) and Bear Stearns (London) in fixed income research roles, focusing on bond markets, all within the Global Markets units of these institutions. The early years of Chavan's career were in a financial services firm in the UK across accounting, auditing, corporate finance and corporate recovery & insolvency disciplines.
During his professional career Chavan has been quoted by the international press on numerous occasions and has been interviewed multiple times on Bloomberg TV, CNBC and other such channels. During his time at FAB/NBAD, Chavan was also the main architect, project manager and MC for one of the largest financial markets conferences in the Middle East - the Global Financial Markets Forum - where, among other things, he managed the content, speakers and VIP guests. At this conference and other events Chavan has interviewed some prominent individuals such as Nicolas Sarkozy, Tony Blair, David Cameron, Ben Bernanke, Mohamed El Erian, General Colin Powell, General David Petraeus, David Rubenstein, Mervyn King, various UAE Government officials, and Central Bank Governors, among others.

He set up the Bancassurance distribution channel for Citibank GCB in UAE in 2004 as Sales Head – Insurance and later managing its Citigold Wealth Management portfolio as Unit Head in 2007.
Before joining Nexus, he held various positions in Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank for 16 years as Sales Head – Bancassurance , Investments and Cross Sell , Sales Head – Mortgages and Head Sales -Retail Banking managing a portfolio of HNI clients across UAE. Sanjeev is an MBA and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Compliance from International Compliance Association , Manchester Business School , UK. He holds an International Certificate in Investments and Wealth Management (ICIWM Level3 ) from the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments (CISI), UK.
